About the role:

Lead the HR function in delivering a HR service for the business to defined service standards, timescales and budgets

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Human Resource strategies for:

- Pay equality


- Identifying, developing, engaging, deploying and retaining talented employees

- Recruitment and retention

- Employee engagement

- Succession planning

- Pay and reward

- Organisational development and change

- Develop and where appropriate, draft new HR policies and procedures that support the business also ensuring that the organisation complies with statutory requirements


Deliver a proactive and customer focussed service with particular emphasis on:

- Recruitment: establish and maintain recruitment excellence. Manage all aspects of the recruitment process from workforce planning to interviewing and induction. Monitor diversity and act on results

- Policies and Procedures: maintain best proactive HR policies and procedures that comply fully with statutory requirements. Proactively ensure that policies and procedures are in operation across the organisation. Communicate policies and procedures through the Employee Handbook

- Employee Records: maintain accurate employment records that meet GDPR and corporate standards

- Consultation and Negotiation: lead on all relevant employee consultation

Employee Relations within TCI

Manage all ER issues within the business

- Proactively coach HR team and managers to deal confidentially and effectively with issues

- Manage cases and prepare documentation

- Attend performance management, investigatory, disciplinary and grievance meetings as appropriate


- Demonstrate strong leadership and the application of good commercial skills. Prepared to challenge and question all levels where appropriate

- Ensure HR systems and procedures enable the organisation to achieve high performance and quality standards, and recommending changes where appropriate

- Lead the HR function in delivering high performance customer focussed service to all internal and external stakeholders

- Motivate, performance manage and develop each team member to reach their full potential

- Take decisions on all HR budgets agreed with the Senior Management Team

Relationship Management

Build strong and effective relationships with all managers and employees

- Learn and understand TCI business

- Play an active role in meetings

- Respond quickly and effectively to all HR queries

- Understand business goals and their potential impact on current structures

- Develop solutions to resolve business issues resulting in contribution to revenue growth, productivity gains and cost reduction

- Position HR as a strategic business partner, change agent, HR expert and trusted adviser in understanding key issues and people implications

- Proactively seek out market/competitor and business area information to inform business decisions and enhance credibility

Person Specification:

- Extensive up to date employment law knowledge

- IT competent in all Microsoft Office packages (including PowerPoint, Word and Excel) to intermediate level

- Ability to influence at all management levels

- Excellent coaching and facilitating skills to empower managers to deal effectively with management at all levels

- Flexible thought processes - ability to generate innovate, commercially sound solutions

- Proven track record in the effective leadership of employees

- Experience in change management

- Proven ability to work autonomously

- Previous experience of working in a stand-alone role / or heading up, leading HR team
