International Baccalaureate are a global, industry leading, educational establishment offering four educational programmes to more than 1.95 million students aged 3 to 19 across the globe. Your new role
A true generalist HR and OD leadership position offering the best of both worlds with responsibility to develop and deliver a local People function within a global context. You’ll be the UK HR lead and will be integral to the success of the organisation with the responsibility for a range of employees across the Assessment Division, IT,
and other critical disciplines. Whilst supporting the UK operations, with a business partnering model to the Assessment Division, you will be a leader within a matrix business, so you’ll be regularly communicating and collaborating with department heads from across the world. Your key stakeholders will range between the Global HR Leadership Team, the local HR/L&D;/Talent recruitment team of 5, the Global HR team, 2 Executive Senior Leaders and multiple department heads in the UK. You will report into, and have the support of the Global HR Director whilst working independently and confidently to deliver the People strategy for the UK operation. You will set the local strategy and implement robust plans for the continuous improvement of the HR/OD function in the UK. You’ll be responsible for the entire People remit but with specific emphasis on workforce planning, diversity & inclusion, and employee engagement. Leading a strong working relationship with various internal employee forums, as well as the union partner, Unite, it is imperative that these relationships are invested in for sustainable and continuous improvement of the culture and employee value proposition.
What you'll need to succeed
You’ll be an experienced HR / OD leader with proven capability to manage at both the operational and strategic level. You’ll be CIPD qualified, ideally as a chartered fellow. You’ll possess commercial acumen in your working style, will be a natural communicator, problem solver and senior leader which, combined, will allow you to succeed in this role. To stand out from other applicants you’ll have proven experience of working within a matrix set up and across multiple locations (preferably internationally), whilst also driving positive cultural change and managing employee/union relationships,.

In addition to working autonomously in a global setting, you will also receive a competitive salary circa £75,000, 30 days annual leave, pension contribution and flexible benefits. Currently working on a remote basis, the UK office will be re-opening in the early Autumn where you’ll be working on a hybrid basis (likely 3 days per week in the office). Post covid times, there will likely be a requirement for international travel approximately 3-4 times per year. The extensive, modern office based conveniently just off the M4 on the outskirts of Cardiff offers excellent transport links and free onsite parking.
