Do you have experience in a consulting environment in the energy sector? Do you love interacting with people and have a passion for quality service?
We are looking for a Consultant to join our Consulting Division in our London or Edinburgh office. You will be providing bespoke consulting services and solutions to help our clients address their most critical business challenges and make better commercial decisions. Our Consulting division includes more than 100 specialists working within the upstream, gas, power, downstream, metals and mining sectors. Our consultants offer a powerful combination of natural resources expertise and commercial consulting skills, partnering with clients to provide actionable recommendations that deliver results. We work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors.
About the role
Our consultants are part of a pool of resources which is assigned to different projects. This gives you fantastic exposure and development opportunities, working alongside colleagues from the different specialist practice groups: upstream, gas, power, downstream, metals and mining.
You will input into a range of consulting projects, through the operation of sophisticated internal models, developing new analysis and creating presentations and reports. You will extract and analyse data from internal and external sources such as databases, websites, industry interviews and Wood Mackenzie products. You will develop complex economic models that assess various energy assets and simulate global commodity trade flows. You will also perform predictive analytics that evaluates investment decisions with various statistical concepts and tools. You will support more senior members of the team to keep clients updated and present findings clearly and concisely. You will also share your knowledge and skills with more junior members of the team.
You will maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the business, from whom you can learn about consulting and the energy sector. You will review projects internally and identify follow-up and re-sale opportunities. You will also support consulting practice development by working with colleagues to understand what new offerings can be taken to clients.

You will have:
- A strong understanding of the energy sector, industry dynamics, commercial operations, business models and strategies.
- Experience in a consulting environment in the energy sector, perhaps with experience in valuation, corporate strategy, market entry strategy and financial modelling.
- A proven track record of project management and delivery, coordinating input from different teams and stakeholders.
- A curious and commercial mindset – you are keen to learn and understand things from a client’s point of view.
- Good analytical skills – you are comfortable with data and financial modelling
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills – you can deliver messages and explain complex or technical information in a coherent, authoritative and engaging manner
- Strong interpersonal skills – you like working with people and can work well on a project team
- The ability to work autonomously, deliver to a deadline and adapt to changes.
