Please note, we do not accept CVs.

The Weald Federation are looking for a Federation Caretaker to become a member of the Federation Caretaking Team to work at our schools in Mayfield and/or Five Ashes.

Ideally we would like a caretaker for Mayfield for 12 hours a week, and another at Five Ashes for 6 hours a week. However if you would like to take on both roles (so 18 hours a week)

this would also be acceptable (subject to agreement with regard to the exact timing you would be required to work at each school).

The successful candidate, ideally, will have experience at working in a school setting and have some experience in health and safety.

You will be required to perform caretaking duties, including being responsible for the routine/emergency opening of school premises and grounds before school starts, ensuring security of all school buildings. You will be required to perform several health and safety/statutory checks so an eye for detail and a methodical approach is essential. The ideal candidate must be willing to play their part in keeping the school staff/children/visitors and buildings/grounds clean, protected and secure, ensuring others are notified where problems arise.

We need someone who will become a team member of Mayfield School staff and be willing to be flexible.

The successful candidate will join a team of four caretakers (at our other three Weald Federation Schools) working under the guidance of our Federation Site Manager.

Experience is not essential (training can be provided), although a willingness to get involved, and an eye for detail will be an advantage. Some computer skills are necessary as you will be required to update an online maintenance manual (for which training can be given).

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
