The undertaking of food preparation tasks, as directed by the head chef.
Preparing ingredients, cleaning vegetables and preparing simple dishes.
Observe correct cooking times and temperatures.
Ensure cooking utensils and food preparation areas/work stations are kept clean and tidy.
Deliver food to different floors of the nursery.
Cooking ingredients according to directions received from chef
To follow HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) guidelines when working with food.
To attend any staff training as required
In emergencies, a kitchen assistant must be able to stand in for the head chef without the quality of food being affected.
This job description is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post holder will be required to undertake any other reasonable duties discussed and directed by the Nursery Management and Nursery Director.
Person specification Essential criteria
Knowledge of cooking techniques and methods
Ability to use key kitchen equipment
A current Food Hygiene Certificate.
A current First Aid Certificate.
An awareness of food allergies.
Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues including COSHH.
Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative.
Ability to manage own time and prioritise tasks.
Friendly, flexible approach.
