Our Early Help Service, for babies, children, young people and families, is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 2) Finance Assistant to be part of our Business Unit based at the Conference Centre, Eastmoors Road, Splott. CF24 5RR.
You will be part of an established Business Support team who have proven experience in providing back-office assistance to public facing teams delivering a variety of services across Early Help to. In this role you will undertake a variety of administration and financial tasks to support the team with health & safety, finance, purchasing, building management, facility bookings and other administrative functions.
As a Corporate Apprentice you will be supported in the workplace to develop the skills you need to make an effective contribution to our Service. You will be provided with a range of workplace activities and experiences, as directed by the manager, and will undertake a range of duties and learning opportunities including, but not limited to, those listed below, whilst also undertaking and completing a relevant Apprenticeship qualification.
• Learn to undertake a range of tasks to assist the finance team to support managers and project leaders in setting, monitoring and reporting on budgets and budget forecasts.
• Assist the team to produce accurate and timely financial reports e.g. to meet grant funding terms and conditions.
• Assist in maintaining financial records of payments and in providing statistical information via Excel spreadsheets, graphical representations and financial reports.
• Assist with creating and maintaining finance and information systems relating to the work of Flying Start service programmes.
• Assist the team to raise orders,
process payments and arrange internal journals via the Councils SAP payments system.
• Learn to use the SAP system to assist the team to interrogate budgets and export financial data.
• To assist the team to provide support in administering payment cards in accordance with the council’s policies and procedures and assisting with reconciliation of accounts under supervision.

• To work with others to carry out duties linked to the team in which the Apprentice is placed.
• To undertake and complete all training and development experiences as required.
• To participate in Corporate Scheme events
