We have an exciting opportunity for a Sister / Charge Nurse (Band 6) to join our Acute Oncology Service, being responsible for co-ordination of the delivery of a comprehensive Acute Oncology Service here at The London Clinic.

We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £42,756 - £52,248 per annum.

The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is The London Clinic’s dedicated cancer centre which comprises of 8 floors, including state-of-the-art radiotherapy & chemotherapy suites as well as 47 dedicated patient bedrooms.

With the latest advances in surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, we treat an extensive range of cancers.

Job Profile

The Acute Oncology Service (AOS) Sister / Charge nurse will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi-professional team, patients and carers.







The post holder will act as the nurse advisor to all patients undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACTs) and follow up treatment for the conditions relating to SACTs.

Provision of specialist support to provide excellent AOS clinical standards in cancer education and training across the hospital to facilitate safe and effective treatment of patients undergoing SACTs.

The key function of the AOS sister / charge nurse is the co-ordination of the delivery of a comprehensive Acute Oncology Service.

- Responsibilities will also include;
- Work collaboratively with the AOS CNS using expert knowledge and skills to deliver AOS services across organisational, professional and geographical boundaries.
- Support the development of nursing practice,





working in collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary team and be the key link between other interfacing specialities.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in the principles of SACT and management of their side-effects across multiple tumour sites, ensuring optimal standards of patient care.
- Undertake a key role in enabling the Clinic to meet both its strategic and national targets, and will be responsible for policy developments and implementation.
- Substantive direct patient care, role modelling, mentorship, supervision and education and facilitation of others to equip nurses for role expansion.

Skills & Experience

- RGN with valid NMC registration. Considerable post registration experience in an acute hospital setting with haematology and oncology setting.






- Cancer experience in SACT
- Post registration course within the Oncology specialism
- Strong evidence of clinical leadership qualities, including team working and team building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; active listening, negotiation, assertiveness, negotiation, decision making, social awareness with the ability to network internally and externally.
