Do you want to work in the vibrant and diverse city of Manchester contributing to development of a uniquely modern and responsive mental health service?

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist ready to take on the challenge of community working?

We are seeking dynamic Band 6 level Occupational Therapists to work as part of an OT specific team within the community mental health teams across the city of Manchester.

You will be part of a clear professional structure operating with the support of a Lead OT based within your locality.

You will be provided with a full range of mandatory training and CPD opportunities with a particular emphasis on developing skills within the Model of Human Occupation.







You will work alongside a range of agencies and offer support to junior staff within the teams.

Main duties of the job

You will operate a specialist Occupational Therapy only caseload within the CMHT.

You will be responsible for evidence based occupational and employment assessments and production of reports to a high standard.

These will highlight how biological, sociological and psychological factors interact to create obstacles to the satisfactory occupational participation of an

individual within the social context.

You will be part of a clear professional structure operating with the support of a band 7 Lead OT based within your locality and an overall Professional Lead OT.

You will be provided with a full range of mandatory training and CPD opportunities with a particular emphasis on developing skills within the Model of Human Occupation.

You will work alongside a range of agencies and develop your skills supporting to junior OT staff and students.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria

- Demonstrable experience of working as a qualified Occupational Therapist
- Providing Occupational Therapy in a mental health setting
- Using a variety of Occupational vocational assessments
- Identifying barriers to goal achievement
- Planning and carrying out evidence based interventions

Desirable criteria

- Experience of working in a range of mental health settings
- Personal experience of mental health issues
- Experience of working in a community setting.
- Experience of supervising support staff

Education

Essential criteria

- Diploma / Degree In Occupational Therapy
- Field work educators qualification within 1 year of appointment
- Registration with HPC

Desirable criteria

- AMPS Training






- Model of Human Occupation training
- Care Programme Approach Training
- Equality Diversity Awareness Training

Knowledge

Essential criteria

- Social inclusion and recovery models
- Evidence based Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions relevant to mental health
- Mental health legislation
- Reflective practice
- Knowledge of local cultures, social diversity and an ability to work as an OT within this context
- Knowledge of the CPA process
- Risk assessment and safeguarding

Skills

Essential criteria

- To apply models of human occupation
- To use a variety of Occupational assessments
- To develop case formulation from assessment
- To plan and implement evidence based interventions aimed at achieving user goals






- To use effective evidence based communication skills
