About the role
As Customer Propositions Manager, you will be Accountable for developing Matalan's overall proposition that strengthens the brand, and sub-brands, and drives more reasons to visit under defined customer pillars.
What you will do:
- Define the strategic role of brand & sub brands for Matalan & articulate how they support the needs of our customer segments & drive business KPIs mid-long term.
- Analyse internal & external data & insight to spot customer trends early & prioritise the biggest commercial opportunities for Matalan in both the short & long term
- Be proactive in proposing where we need to shift our current proposition & be more innovative in order to take advantage of a gap in the market.
- Consistently track competitors in depth to ensure expert knowledge of their strategies & propositions,
whilst identifying where Matalan can be distinctive and have a right to win
- Work with Customer Trade Planning Managers to translate wider business strategy & seasonal strategic plans into a customer proposition proposal that delivers the key KPIs set for the season
- Brief Product, Insight, Customer and Channel teams to support proposition development through the trade plan up to 18months out, applying them to seasons, events & KPIs, working hand in hand with Trade Planning Managers
- Use storytelling skills to bring propositions to life & excite the whole business around your vision for each proposition under the strategic customer pillars & segments
- Work cross functionally to build strong relationships across all parts of the business in order to influence & deliver each proposition in store,
online & through marketing channels
- Define and set proposition policies and procedures that support the delivery of the wider function and business strategies
- Accountable for the success of propositions so KPIs must be set & performance measured over time.
- Engage & influence key stakeholders across the business at all levels
- Provide support to the Senior Customer Propositions & Planning Manager by sharing expertise and information to support effective decision making
- Be a role model to the business. Supporting the wider Customer Trade Planning team when required & support an energetic, enthusiastic & supportive team culture.
About You
- +5 years experience in a commercial trade facing role - marketing, buying, merchandising, planning, eCommerce
- Strong communication & project management skills
- Able to lead cross functional groups with a proven record in influencing at all levels
- Good understanding of retail within an omnichannel environment.
- Ability to turn complex data and insight into actions plans
