We are inviting applications for a full-time Consultant Paediatric Radiologist (body imaging) within the General Radiology Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is for a 10 PA substantive position.
The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in all aspects of paediatric diagnostic radiology (excluding neuroradiology) including plain radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, MRI and CT.
The candidate is expected to have completed at least 1 year of subspecialist training (or equivalent) in paediatric radiology.
The post will include 1 PA of dedicated research time for the first 2 years of the post; the candidate will also be expected to take on a significant training role, supporting the current training program director.
The successful candidate will join a large department including 11 other diagnostic radiologists, 1 whole time Nuclear Medicine consultant, 6 neuroradiologists and 6 interventional radiologists.
There are 4 radiology fellows and a number of radiology trainees rotating to the hospital from other training schemes.
The department supports a mix of on site and home reporting for diagnostic consultant radiologists; this includes access to a full home reporting workstation for the successful candidate.
MDT meetings are conducted by both by teleconference and in person / hybrid.
Main duties of the job
The position will involve general paediatric radiology sessions at Great Ormond Street including reporting (plain film, CT, MRI and external imaging), ultrasound, fluoroscopy, MDT attendance and supervision of complex CT and MRI examinations
- There is a system of internal cover which operates in the department and the internal cover sessions will involve the same modalities as the other designated DCC sessions (see Appendix 1 for specimen job plan).
- The appointee is required to participate in a non-resident on call rota (currently 1 : 9, may increase to 1 : 10 with this appointment) with the other general radiologists.
On call covers general radiology emergencies only, with separate on call cover provided by interventional radiology and neuroradiology.
DCC) is included in the job plan for time dealing with emergencies on call. First on call will be provided by an off-site SpR / Trust Fellow.
The appointee will be expected to develop sub-specialist interests during their tenure. There are opportunities to develop these interests with the support of existing post-holders.

Academic / Professional qualification / Training
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration or evidence of eligibility for full GMC registration
