Job description
We are recruiting for an Assistant or Analyst to join our Can I Act team.
Your Role
As a Compliance Analyst your day to day remit includes :
- Manage and implement an assessment of all high and medium risk clients, requiring CRP’s to review information regarding clients with whom they have a business relationship, including recompleting the AML client risk assessment, and updating CDD accordingly.
- Address any non-compliance in line with internal policies.
- Work with Client Relationship Partners (CRP) to ensure AML reviews undertaken of existing clients are consistent with what we know about the client, their business and risk profile, and relevant information has been kept up-to-date.
- Contact clients directly in order to explain the requirements of the Money Laundering Regulations and to seek information and documentation to comply.
- Monitor and analyse matter risk assessments being completed at the start of each matter and prior to completion monies being sent.
- Help ensure the Firm is comfortable acting in the particular circumstances and, if so, whether our internal controls have been adjusted to the appropriate level or risk presented by the client and retainer.
- Flag high risk factors for further investigation.
- Follow business acceptance procedures for all clients and work of the firm and take proactive steps to help ensure that fee earning teams understood those procedures and are compliant.
This may involve attending team meetings and committees.
- To liaise with fee earners and others within the firm to make informed decisions about whether CDD requirements have been met and mitigate any risks that are identified in client or matter risk assessments
- To review and analyse CDD documents to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering regulations, identifying what is missing, seeking enhanced information, necessary and referring where necessary to TM or Risk.
- To review company information databases, research organisations, and conduct electronic verification searches on clients and third parties using bespoke software.
- Advise fee earners on complex CDD requirements including identifying layered beneficial ownership.
- Be able to conduct source of funds and source of wealth reviews and make decisions on whether the risk has been mitigated.
Your Skills and Experience
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people of all levels.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Accurate data inputting, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT skills.
- Legal qualification desired but not essential.
- The role would suit someone with previous experience of working in compliance for a law firm in the areas of conflict checking and CDD / KYC.
- A minimum of one year’s experience of conflict checking is required for the compliance analyst role.
Your Team
Can I Act are a shared service team within 'TLT ReSource' who undertake volume compliance tasks on behalf of the firm. The team deal with all tasks associated with taking on new clients and matters, such as conflict checking, client due diligence,
and source of funds checks.
The team consists of 14 compliance professionals and is managed on a day to day basis by the Team Manager. The Risk Manager in Risk & Compliance is the strategic head of CIA and responsible for the team’s operations.
