Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) Secondary School

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist secondary school in Salford , which supports students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This role will involve providing classroom and 1 : 1 support to students experiencing anxiety, depression , and other mental health challenges, helping them to thrive in their educational environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide tailored classroom and 1 : 1 support to students with a range of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, and emotional difficulties.
- Assist students in managing their emotions and engaging positively with their learning, both academically and socially.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEN / SEMH team to implement individual support plans and intervention strategies.
- Support the development of coping strategies and emotional resilience through structured activities and therapeutic approaches.
- Foster a calm, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment to encourage student wellbeing and progress.
- Regularly monitor and report on student wellbeing and progress, adapting support strategies as necessary.

Ideal Candidate :
- Experience working with children or young adults with Social, Emotional,
and Mental Health needs, particularly those dealing with anxiety, depression, or other mental health conditions is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach, with the ability to build positive relationships and provide emotional support.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, mental health professionals, and families.
- An understanding of how to implement emotional and behavioural support plans effectively.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 / 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Mental Health First Aid, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential if you have the right experience and attitude.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
