Located in the Slough, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Head of Department for Sociology to join our dynamic team.

The Role
As the Head of Department for Sociology, you will :
- Lead and manage the Sociology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement an engaging and challenging curriculum that inspires students and meets their diverse needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department, driving continuous improvement.
- Provide professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the school's values and ethos.
- Collaborate with other heads of departments and senior leadership to contribute to the overall success of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, preparation, and delivery of high-quality Sociology lessons.
- Lead and mentor a team of Sociology teachers, offering guidance and support.
- Track and analyse student progress, implementing strategies to address areas of improvement.
- Coordinate departmental meetings,
setting agendas, and ensuring effective communication.
- Manage departmental resources, including budgeting and procurement.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student learning and well-being.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will :
- Hold a degree in Sociology or a related field, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have significant teaching experience, preferably with leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of improving student outcomes.
- Possess excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Be committed to continuing professional development and staying abreast of educational best practices.
- Exhibit strong leadership qualities,
with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students.
- Be enthusiastic about fostering a love for Sociology and promoting critical thinking skills.
