Position Overview : As a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry, you will be a key leader in providing expert psychiatric care to individuals within forensic settings.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the assessment,
treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals with complex mental health needs, including those involved in the criminal justice system.
This role requires a strong commitment to forensic psychiatry and a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulating treatment plans for individuals within forensic settings.
- Providing expert psychiatric input to a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with professionals such as psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists.
- Leading and overseeing the implementation of evidence-based interventions to address complex mental health issues.
- Contributing to risk assessments and management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and the wider community.
- Engaging in collaborative work with external agencies, including the criminal justice system, to ensure coordinated and effective care.
Qualifications and Requirements :
- Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Specialist registration in Forensic Psychiatry.
- CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) or equivalent in Forensic Psychiatry.
- Substantial experience as a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry, demonstrating leadership and clinical excellence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of the latest research and developments in forensic psychiatry.
