Job description

Family Safeguarding

Become an Advanced Practitioner for Bury and help with our Let’s Do it for Children’ vision.

About the role

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated social worker who shares a passion in supporting the progression of others.

The Advanced Practitioner role is ideal for a Social Worker looking to develop their skills and experience. You will receive support from a permanent Team Manager with regular supervision, numerous training opportunities and a commitment to your on-going professional development.

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people? Do you want to work using strength-based models of social work practice and motivational interviewing?

If so we have an exciting opportunity here at Bury for you to join our dedicated Family Safeguarding Team.

We are the first authority within the Greater Manchester area to implement and pioneer Heartfordshire's Family Safeguarding model.

This is a fantastic opportunity to change the way we work with children and families in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children of Bury.

Within Family Safeguarding we use motivational interviewing and a multi-agency approach under the Family Safeguarding model, where Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, and Psychologists collaborate closely to address family issues efficiently, reducing the need for referrals to other agencies.

Social Workers based within Family Safeguarding support children and their families via Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, PLO pre-proceedings and Care Proceedings.

We have 5 Family Safeguarding Teams which include five social workers, an advanced practitioner, a Team manager as well as our multi-agency practitioners.

Our approach to supervision within Family Safeguarding is unique, as this takes place along with all involved Family Safeguarding practitioners.

This ensures that supervisions are reflective and plans are responsive to the needs of our children and families.

You will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships with children and families. We know this supports positive and effective engagement which achieves better outcomes for children and prevents their needs from escalating.

To help us achieve our ambitions for children and families we are looking for dedicated,

and compassionate practitioners who are child focused and committed to relationship-based social work to join us.

You will be a qualified social worker, registered with SW England and have access to a car to enable you to visit and support our children and families.

We strive to provide a supportive and dynamic work environment for our employees with a strong focus on support, training and development and health and wellbeing.

We value that our staff are fully committed and often work above and beyond- we have seen that even more during the Pandemic.

In return we offer a flexible approach to working including remote and home working and flexibility with working hours to allow you to meet your own family’s needs too.

We are small authority with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and we would love for you to come and join our Bury Family!

This is all part of Bury's big commitment in relation to their corporate strategy Let's Do It!

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
