They have established a long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional care and support in their retirement villages and care homes, by providing opportunities for their residents to enjoy treasured relationships, exercise choice and feel valued. They call these their three Cs - Connection, Contribution and Choice. They now have five care villages, all of which are purpose built to the highest standards and all of which are “havens”.
Each care village is a vibrant community of older people, mostly living independently in their own flats, and four of them include care homes with specialist dementia facilities. You will see that The St Monica Trust is delighted to present plans for the final piece of the development at
The Chocolate Quarter. The Trust has been granted planning permission for the addition of 44 assisted living apartments, and construction is scheduled to finish in late 2025. They are now seeking a new role of Director of Estates and Capital Developments.
Working across the St Monica Trust care homes and retirement villages in the South-West of England, the role is crucial to delivering their strategic ambitions and in creating communities where older people flourish. The Director of Estates and Capital Developments is accountable and responsible for optimising the Trust’s real estate portfolio, ensuring alignment with the Strategic Plan and asset optimisation. The role includes overseeing capital projects,
as well as the development of newly acquired buildings/properties and utilising existing space to meet the Trust’s current and future needs - in compliance with regulation and meeting agreed strategic net zero targets.
Operationally the role will ensure the efficient delivery of maintenance, gardening and estates functions across the Trust, involving regular service reviews to ensure continuous improvement and ability to meet changing customer expectations. We are seeking experience as a senior leader/director with evidence of strong strategic thinking skills and results-oriented mindset, with strong digital skills. We also ideally seek membership of relevant estates or facilities management professional bodies with a NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
Candidates will bring experience of estates and facilities management, contractor management, asset, infrastructure and / or property development within a complex organisation. Sector wise, we are interested to talk to candidates who have multi-site facilities and estates experience gained within the health, social care or other service sector such as a campus, care or retirement villages.
