An exciting opportunity has risen for enthusiastic Band 5 Theatre Practitioners / Operating Department Practitioner's (ODP's) to rotate between Theatre sites in Bristol Eye Hospital and Bristol Dental Hospital

Multiple posts available 37.5 hours per week-rotational,





substantive full time and part time . Please mention your preferences in your application.

Bristol Dental Hospital (BDH) has one theatre and a three-bedded recovery. The patients here range from 18months to 16 years who can have routine tooth extractions, surgical tooth removal and restorative treatment under General Anaesthetic.

Ideally the applicant will have skills or knowledge in all areas of theatres including scrub, recovery and anaesthetics, but relevant training will be provided.

Willingness to learn is essential, along with flexibility and a team working approach.

The post holder will be expected to work across Bristol Dental Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital theatres as needed.

BDH Shift pattern : Monday - Friday 8-5No Bank Holidays ,shift work or weekends providing a great work life balance opportunity.

Bristol Eye Hospital Theatres occupies the fourth floor of BEH and consists of four operating theatres and recovery with two adult bays and one paediatric bay.

We cover a wider variety of surgery : cataract,





glaucoma vitreo-retinal, oculo-plastics, orbital, corneal, squint and naso-lachrymal cases.

BEH Shift pattern : 8 - 6 Monday to Friday8 - 8 Monday and WednesdayWeekend : 08 : 30-14 : 30On call rota - various times available he post holder will work with the Theatre managers and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing / HCPC care and staff development.

- In partnership with other professionals and disciplines, develop measurable patient care plans / goals. The process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to timely transfer or discharge.
- Take charge of the clinical needs of a group of defined patients on the ward / department prioritising workload according to changing clinical need over a 24 period.






- Work towards regularly taking charge of the ward / department on occasion prioritising workload according to changing clinical need over a 24 period.
- Delegate tasks and activities to a range of team members in relation to patient care (for example when taking charge or as link nurse)
- Ensure nursing documentation is maintained, accurate and timely in line with the Trust standard
- To demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. To work towards promoting this to others.
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients
- Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.
- Promote a clean environment and the prevention of hospital acquired infection






- Respond positively and act promptly to resolve problems / issues for patients / carers, utilising complaints procedures and PALs where appropriate.
