Join us in shaping our story.
We’re looking for an individual who can bring their storytelling and journalistic experience to help amplify the amazing research undertaken within the Faculty. From promoting discourse on racial bias on the bench to creating engaging content about sustainability and beyond, you will be curious and creative in your approach.
Joining our passionate team, you can deliver unique communications campaigns with a national and international perspective. We’re looking for someone who can take the seed of an idea and turn it into headline news, and we can't wait to see what you'll bring to the table.
It’s not just about PR and news coverage.
We’re looking for someone who can examine the whole communications toolkit and emerging technologies to create highly engaging and relevant content for a wide range of audiences. You’ll help promote our work with the University’s Global Inequalities Beacon and explore new avenues to help us tell the story of the humanities and their relevance to today's world.
Higher education experience would be helpful, especially regarding research impact and measurement. However, we’re seeking someone highly self-motivated, organised, and collaborative. You’ll work in a matrix organisation, which requires strong relationship-building skills, project management experience and excellent interpersonal skills.
This is your chance to make a difference in our communications.
About the Role
Based in the Faculty’s Marketing, Communications and Recruitment department, you will be responsible for developing and delivering communication and engagement plans and campaigns to support the promotion and impact of research activity.
You will provide professional support,
expertise, and advice to individual academics and research Institutes and work closely with the Vice Dean for Research and the Research Support and Business Engagement team.
Your role will enhance the University of Manchester's reputation as a leading global institution. By effectively communicating the excellence, scale, and interdisciplinary nature of our research, and the societal impact we deliver locally, nationally, and internationally, you will significantly contribute to our standing. Specifically, the post-holder will lead the delivery of the Faculty of Humanities research communications and engagement plan, including our preparations for the 2028 Research Excellence Framework (REF 2028).
You will also be responsible for the University’s Global Inequalities Research Beacon and work closely with the Corporate Campaigns team and Associate Vice-President for Research to deliver Beacon activity. The post-holder will manage the team’s Research Communications and Engagement Coordinator, with the possibility of further expansion of the team.
