About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits for a skilled engineer to play a leading role in e-drive and power electronics controls as we advance electrification efforts in the automotive sector. Working within a UK-based R&D; team, this Principal Powertrain Software Engineer role focuses on developing intelligent control systems for next-generation electrified powertrains. This is a chance to make a substantial impact within an innovative environment at the forefront of electric powertrain engineering.







Key Responsibilities as Principal Powertrain Software Engineer:

* Develop and optimise e-drive and power electronics control systems in line with project objectives.

* Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and analyse system requirements.

* Design and implement control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink, with autocode generation for production.

* Specify diagnostics, CAN communication, and safety monitoring strategies.

* Conduct testing and validation on electrical test benches, HiL, and vehicle platforms.

* Troubleshoot and solve issues through investigations and expertise sharing.

* Contribute to DFMEA and functional safety (ISO26262) processes.

* Oversee technical aspects of supplier delivery to ensure project milestones.

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic, Control Systems Engineering or a related field.

* Highly experienced in real-time embedded control systems, ideally with automotive experience.







* Strong background in e-drive control software and power electronics, with proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.

* Experience with data logging and calibration tools (e.g., INCA, CANalyzer, CANape) and CAN protocols.

* Knowledge of system engineering practices and automotive software quality standards.

* Familiarity with ISO26262 Functional Safety, DFMEA, and diagnostic development.

* Ability to travel periodically for development trips and supplier visits.

* Eligible to work in the UK.
