Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Women’s & Children’s Division
Based at Epsom Hospital
Full Time 40 Hours Per Week
Fixed term 6 Months (possibility of extension)
An opportunity has arisen for a clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. This fellowship post provides excellent training opportunities for any trainee in Obstetrics & Gynaecology within the UK, EEA or from overseas who wishes to develop their acute obstetric and gynaecological and clinical / surgical skills.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a fellowship post for the duration of 6 months in the first instance. The post-holder will also participate in the Obstetrics on call rota.
This post will be based in The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at Epsom Hospital.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of the Service.
He / she will be expected to participate in the Trust’s governance and maintain their CME / CPD. He / she will also have a commitment to participate in the Trust’s professional development activities.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC
- Appropriate higher medical qualification - MRCOG part1 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
MRCOG part 1
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
Able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the on call SHO / ST1-2 rota for the specialty
Desirable criteria
Experience at ST1 / 2 level in OBGYN
Management & Administrative Experience
Essential criteria
- Personal time management skills
- Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
Evidence of completed Audit cycle.
Teaching Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students
- Ability to teach clinical skills
Desirable criteria
Formalised teaching experience
Research Experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems
- Ability to critically review research
Desirable criteria
Publications in peer review journals
Language
Essential criteria
Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
