Job overview

As a member of the nursing team, you will assist registered members of staff to deliver a high

standard of care to patients in the ward / clinical area demonstrating compassion, kindness

and sensitivity.

Work as an integral part of the OPD team and be responsible for day to day running

of outpatient clinics

Manage and maintain the online booking system for the clinic rooms within the

outpatient setting.

Provide high quality and safe care to patients attending OPD. Be alert to frail patients

and provide refreshments, pressure relieving aids and / or assistance to toilet.

To maintain the dignity and privacy of all patients and respect their right to confidentiality at

all times.







To complete and maintain on an ongoing basis a portfolio of clinical competencies. To

review progress with ward manager and team leader / supervisor at regular intervals and

through appraisal process.

Undertake action required in emergencies as directed by trained nurses

Maintain a safe, well stocked, clean and comfortable environment for patients, staff

and visitors.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake the following duties under the supervision of a registered practitioner.

Communication :

To establish and maintain good relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues through

effective verbal and non-verbal communication, demonstrating empathy and ability to

manage conflict or potentially challenging situations.

To help patients and visitors orientate themselves to their surroundings when in the

outpatient department, tailored to their specific needs.

To answer telephone calls appropriately and efficiently, accurately relaying messages.







Contact patients and visitors and instruct them on attending the department following

COVID guidance

Have a good understanding of IT systems.

Undertake agreed aspects of clerical work relating to patients and the outpatient

department including gathering and filing notes.
