Band Deputy Ward Manager / Charge Nurse - month fixed term contract

Oncology Ward, Churchill Hospital, Oxford

We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced oncology nurse to develop in the role of junior ward manager on the Oncology ward at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post is a -month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

The role of deputy ward manager is to assist the Ward Manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward.

You will have an opportunity to gain an insight into the ward manager role and be supported to develop the necessary skills and expertise to undertake the job.







We are looking for an innovative nurse keen to develop their managerial skills with the ability to problem solve, demonstrate leadership, and be motivated to support the ward sister in clinical audit and research as well as role modelling and supporting junior team members and students.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should be in possession of or working towards degree level education, and have at least two years’ experience in cancer care.

Relevant specialist training in cancer care essential.

We aim to provide a service tailored to the individual’s needs as well as ensuring our staff are supported through regular clinical supervision, educational programmes and on-going professional development.

The ward actively supports nurse-led activities and research, offering opportunities for professional and personal development.

Funding is available for degree and masters modules within the specialty.
