An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to deliver a range of complex cross-council, cross-organisational and departmental transformation projects. The projects will involve close working with corporate sponsors, service leads and internal/ external senior stakeholders and plays a key role in the Transformation and Change Group. This is a demanding role suited to a person experienced in managing complex projects in a local authority environment.
The focus of our strategic projects includes social care, early help and prevention, services for residents and operational transformation within a wide system of partnerships, and candidates will be expected to have a general understanding of this context at interview.
The role will be expected to:
- Understand, develop and manage complex stakeholder relationships effectively and sympathetically.
- Develop appropriate and effective governance for projects that provides a clear route for decisions and authorisation that will move projects along at pace
- Assimilate and summarise complicated and ambiguous information and develop clear workstreams that will deliver aims and objectives
- Develop robust risk strategies that mitigate risks and issues and guide the project delivery and reporting
- Monitor progress against the project plan to ensure key milestones and deliverables are being achieved, escalating appropriately to support delivery
- Work closely with the Programme Manager, Strategic Insight Unit and departmental colleagues to establish business cases.
- Lead and develop staff supporting the project.
- The successful applicant will need to provide extensive and demonstrable project experience as set out in the attached job description and person specification.
