About Us

The Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education (ABC-TNE) will enable King's to help provide underserved youth, in sub-Saharan Africa,

with access to education and opportunities, which they would otherwise not have. The vision for the Centre is based on the power of education to empower and enable Africa’s talented young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world. In the context of the ABC-TNE, transnational education means education on transnational issues, disciplines, skills and competencies, co-created, and co-delivered through multilateral and multinational collaborations, which differs from the default sector definition. The Centre’s strategy is to develop proofs of concept that can be scaled up, supporting collaborations with critical early seed funding and leveraging existing investments and partnerships.

The Centre will develop and deliver a series of pilots and evaluate their impact over the next 2-3 years. Reporting directly to the Centre’s Director of Strategy, and working closely with the Project Manager,

you will join and support the Centre’s delivery team at a crucial and exciting moment as we are ramping up work, aiming to launch the first pilot programme at Postgraduate level in the upcoming year. Outcomes and lessons from these will serve as the foundation for the longer-term design of operations and the financial sustainability of the ABC-TNE.

In addition to Afe Babalola Centre IES is home to some of King’s most innovative and impact-driven programming including Sanctuary, One King’s Impact, and King’s Volunteering, among others, as well as our civic and place-based engagement in London, and across the world.

About the Role

The Centre Administrator will provide high quality, logistical and administrative support within the Afe Babalola Centre and will help ensure the smooth running of the Centre’s developing operations.

The role is a critical support function, which involves a diverse portfolio that includes writing professional documentations (including, reports, meeting agendas, etc.), managing diaries, organising events and travel (including internationally), regular communication and engagement with various internal and external stakeholders, as well as providing day-to-day administrative support and financial management for the Centre. You will be offered a full time (35 hours per week) contract on a fixed term basis until December 2026.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

- Demonstrable experience in international administrative role in higher education or similar relevant environment

- Experience in managing diaries, organising meetings and arranging logistics for internal/external events and international travels

- Good verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, and adapt to a variety of audiences, including senior management and external partners.

- Detail orientated, with strong digital skills and experience managing large amounts of sensitive information, data and documents.

- Excellent time management and organisational skills; able to manage own workload and resources confidently to meet agreed deadlines to a high standard.

- Solution-driven, proactive and flexible; willing to learn new skills and use information from various sources to aid analysis, solve arising issues and make timely decisions.

- Good interpersonal and collaborative skills; good team player, working well with others.
