Your Day-to-Day :
- Act as the project’s single point of authority and accountability for the mechanical engineering discipline
- Dependent on project scope,
lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team.
- Responsible for the development key design deliverables such as Design Proposal Drawings, Mechanical Flow Diagrams and Detailed Design Drawings.
Checking and Approval of scoping and FEA calculations.
- Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards.
- Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
- Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented
- Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages
- Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget.
- Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
- Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM
- Present Mechanical engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
- Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
- Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
- Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope / exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
- Mentor a team of engineers / designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company’s capabilities
- Develop and manage / maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations
Who You Are :
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team :
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- Chartered Member of the IMechE preferred
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in nuclear industry or highly regulated industry and at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level
- Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques applicable to mechanical design.
- Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment
- Must be legally eligible to work in the UK
