Role : Response Consultant - Operational Resilience (12 month FTC)
Location : London - Hybrid
Position : Full time, fixed term contract
We are looking for an experienced Crisis Continuity professional to manage and facilitate our response to major incidents.
You will ensure that our response capability is effective, well rehearsed and joined up across different disciplines and with our service providers.
As an insurance firm we simply wouldn’t be able to function effectively without operational resilience and crisis management capabilities.
The team ensure we understand, respond and proactively strengthen our ability to withstand severe disruptions as well as mitigating critical risk factors.
This role will be focussed on embedding and continually improving our incident, crisis response and scenario testing capabilities, working collaboratively with stakeholders and partners.
Your colleagues within the Ops Res team each have a slightly different primary focus, with the same strategic goals. We are a collaborative and inclusive team who will raise up other team members and assist them with key deliverables within our wider resilience framework.
About The Job
What you’ll spend your time doing :
You will be part of the team responsible for developing, embedding and managing the framework, tools and methodologies in line with market practices, regulatory and business requirements :
Maintain, continually strengthen and embed our Incident Management and Response processes, including identification, resolution, root cause analysis and recommendations, reporting and incident co-ordination with partners inside and outside the organisation.
Facilitate incident assessment and responseby escalating issues and convening crisis teams. Act as Scribe to provide real-time status boards and incident logs.
Support the Chair and Operations Directorto enable them to make appropriate decisions based on concise summaries of the information available.
Train and upskill crisis team membersby creating and delivering quality information, appropriately tailored to your target audience.
Manage a rolling programme of cross-business awareness and training activities to support effective incident identification and response team engagement.
Facilitate scenario testsacross the MS Amlin estate. Join up the exercising conducted across entities as part of our MS Amlin crisis framework, , ensuring that MS AMLIN can respond effectively.
Work with the Ops Res Manager to deliver Important Business Service (IBS) scenario testing, including maintaining the catalogue of scenarios, running the scenario schedule and incorporating findings into the Operational Resilience frameworks.
Support other key functions to rehearse their Business Continuity Plans to form a cohesive whole.
Monitor and create meaningful metrics to support the assessment of our response capabilities and improvements.
Continually assess our resilience vulnerabilities. Identify and escalate any new vulnerabilities and prioritise remediation activities to close existing resilience gaps.
Drive development of incident management processes and tools to manage our third party network dependencies,working across suppliers,
partners and the market to develop and maintain coordinated capabilities.
Draft Post Incident and Exercise reports consolidating lessons learned across many stakeholders, extracting key improvements and tracking them to resolution
Ensure effective Crisis Communications with colleagues and key stakeholders. Ensuring group messaging is augmented to protect the key services of MS AMLIN.
Maintain Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Policies, Standards, processes, tools and controls for our business
Develop strong stakeholder relationshipsand support them in ensuring we respond effectively to operational threats and incidents.
This includes SMF24, Executive Management, Important Business Service Owners, Critical Resource Owners and their teams,
as well as business functions in Lines 1, 2 and 3, our service partners, market and regulatory bodies
Ensure Impact Tolerances are supported by appropriate recovery time objectives
Mature our tools, practices and capabilities, focused on continual maturity and improvement to ensure business needs, industry trends and regulatory requirements remain aligned Act as an internal subject matter expert and consultant to our business stakeholders and partners.
The Response Consultant, Operational Resilience reports into the Head of Operational Resilience. This position has no direct reports but as part of the MS Amlin Operations function will work closely the SMF24 - MS Amlin Operations Director, Important Business Service and Resource Owners,
other senior stakeholders and with counterparts across Operations, Line 2, Line 3 and Service Providers, including our sister entities, to monitor and resolve issues and align capabilities with resilience monitoring, management, remediation.

What you’ll need :
For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include :
Demonstrable experience in Business Continuity and Crisis Management
Awareness of Operational Risk and Operational Resilience drivers and methodology
Knowledge of Financial Services Operational Resilience Policy Statements
Good interpersonal, stakeholder and communication skills
Ability to construct succinct reports for senior managers while also tracking improvements in more detailed plans and processes
