Job description

If you are looking for a new exciting challenge, we are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Support Medical Secretary to provide administrative and typing duties within the Acute Medicine Department.

You should have a meticulous approach to work and excellent communication skills to support our team of existing Medical Secretarial and administrative team.

This post is indicative of Band 3 pending DGFT AfC panel confirmation.

Main duties of the job

To provide a support medical secretarial service within the Acute Medicine Department. To undertake accurate audio / copy typing of medical correspondence and general administration for the Consultants and their teams.

This will include highly sensitive and complex medical terminology with a need for confidentiality. To work collaboratively with Medical Secretary colleagues to ensure clinical correspondence is produced and distributed within acceptable timeframes.

It is essential that the post holder should exercise initiative commensurate with the role.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

- GSCE or equivalent at Grade C or above in Maths and English Language.
- OCR / RSA II Typing or equivalent.






- Medical Typing / Transcription Audio
- NHS database / systems experience

Desirable criteria

- Value equality and diversity
- Medical Secretarial AMSPAR Diploma

Knowledge and training

Essential criteria

- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages (i.e., Outlook, Excel)
- Previous Experience in Sunrise, Big hand, and Oasis

Desirable criteria

Willing to undertake training / develop

- Previous experience as a Support Medical Secretary
