If so our Exeter office is currentlylooking for an enthusiastic Senior or Principal Ecologist to joinits growing team and would love to hear fromyou.
You will be an integral member of ourecology team leading and delivering high quality work andassessments for a range of clients and on a range of projectscollaborating with our talented team of ecologists landscapearchitects and environmental planners. You willbe :
- Managing projects throughout theirlifecycle prior to and postplanning providing advice on ecology andbiodiversity to clients stakeholders and projectteams;
- Planning leading on and conductingecological surveys;
- Undertaking environmentalimpact assessments biodiversity net gain assessments and preparinga range of ecological reports andstrategies;
- Designing and implementingappropriate mitigation measures to enhance biodiversity and protectecological features;
- Supporting and mentoringjunior staff sharing your own knowledge and expertise to developtheir skills and knowledge and professionaljudgement;
- Building and maintaining strongclient relationships as well as with contractors and regulatorybodies
Aboutyou
- Degree level orhigher in Ecology or related field;
- At least45 years working in ecological consultancy with proven experiencein project management including for medium to large scale and morecomplex sites liaising with clients and wider project consultantsto deliver outputs efficiently and on time;
- Experienced in advising clients onBiodiversity Net Gain; understanding and use of the DEFRA StatutoryBiodiversity Metric and production of associated reports and plans;
- Demonstrable experience in complex reportwriting inclusive but not limited to Preliminary EcologicalAppraisal (PEA) reports Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA)including for Environmental Statements;
- Habitats RegulationsAssessment (HRA) documents Species and Habitat Management Plans;
- Strong communication skills with the abilityto collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- An advanced knowledge of ecology and wildlifeprotection in the context of the UK legislative and planningsystem;
- You may have a particular ecologicalspecialism or hold protected species licence / s although yourallround skills and knowledge are also valuable
- A level of competency in Microsoft Officesoftware and preferably (although not essential) some knowledge ofGIS packages.
- Membership or eligibility tomembership of a relevant professional body (eg Chartered Instituteof Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or other similar);
- A full UK driving licence and access tovehicle.
