Birkenhead Community Mental Health Team are looking for a Clinical Support worker to join our busy team. Based on Wirral we cover a wide geographical are supporting people to live as independently as possible in their communities.

Woking alongside member of the multidisciplinary team you will proved holistic, person centred care for people with severe and enduring mental illnesses.

We work with adults aged 18 and over and support those with both functional and organic illnesses.

The Cheshire and Wirral Community Well-being Alliance are working together to transform community mental health services, providing holistic,





person-centred care for people with mental health needs and to support people to live a full and meaningful life.

We facilitate access to a combination of support, to provide the best chance to improve well-being and quality of life in the longer term.

The vision is for individuals to be at the heart of all that we do, shaping care and opportunities around the needs of the community.

We will strive to prevent mental health crisis and ensure that anyone in need has access to the right care at the right time in their own community.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a range of therapeutic interventions and other aspects of the service user's care plan under the guidance of the multi-disciplinary team inclusive of occupational therapists, psychiatric nurses, therapists,





psychologists and consultant psychiatrists.

This is a varied role and applicants will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, person-centred approaches to care and utmost respect and compassion for the people we serve.

You will work as part of a large team of multi skilled, experienced colleagues who will be able to support to deliver safe and effective care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience

Knowledge & Expertise

Essential criteria

- Basic risk and mental health assessment
- Record keeping

Desirable criteria

- Basic clinical skills : Venepuncture, ECG Recording, Clinical Observations
- Delivery of brief interventions for healthy lifestyle promotion : Smoking cessation, Alcohol reduction, Healthy eating, Activity and exercise

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of mental health difficulties either lived experience or as a lay or professional carer

Desirable criteria

- Experience of working within a community care setting
- Experience of working with small groups
