Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude

Essential criteria

- Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload & use initiative
- Ability to know own limitations and when to seek advice
- Meet the requirements of the GMC’s Good Medical Practice.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload

Desirable criteria

- Computer / IT Research skills
- Ability to perform flexible cystoscopy independently
- Experience of teaching clinical skills to under- graduates






- Experience of NHS clinical governance
- Publications in peer reviewed journals
- Recent involvement in research
- Evidence of self-directed learning / courses

Experience

Essential criteria

- Can demonstrate successful completion of core surgical training or equivalent
- Ability to fulfil all elements of the job description.
- Ability to take responsibility for clinical care of patients and maintain continuity of care
- Surgical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to support and supervise more junior colleagues in clinical and procedural skills.
- Understanding of NHS clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Evidence of participation in and response to Clinical Audit
- Experience within urology at SHO or equivalent level

Desirable criteria

- Evidence of involvement in audit & research projects
- Demonstrates developing surgical logbook

Interpersonal Skills

- Flexible attitude






- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

- Eligibility or valid / relevant GMC Registration
- Basic Medical Qualification
- Completion of foundation training
- MRCS or equivalent Part A

Desirable criteria

- Compliant with all Mandatory Training
- Higher Urology training
- MRCS part B
