Overview:
Our client, a global leader in digital, print, and content media, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Commercial Legal team. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide strategic legal support across the company’s global operations in a fast-paced and innovative media environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media, technology, and advertising law, along with the ability to manage complex legal issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with advertising partners, technology vendors, content creators, production companies, talent, and other third parties.
- Legal Advisory:
Provide expert legal advice on a broad range of media-related issues, including AdTech, content licensing, intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Marketing & Consumer Law: Advise on promotional campaigns, consumer law issues, and programmatic advertising matters.
- Dispute Resolution: Oversee and manage external counsel, and advise on media, IP, and business-related disputes.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with internal stakeholders and executives, offering proactive legal guidance and strategic risk management.
- Industry Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in media and advertising law.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and manage junior legal team members, fostering their growth and development.
Required Experience:
- Media & Technology Law: Extensive experience in media, advertising, and technology law, ideally gained in-house at a media company or within a top-tier law firm.
- AdTech & Privacy Law: Expertise in AdTech, content licensing, consumer law, contract negotiation, and privacy regulations.
- Dispute Management: Experience in managing and resolving disputes, including overseeing external counsel and advising on complex litigation and regulatory matters.
- Commercial Acumen: Ability to handle complex commercial agreements, particularly within the technology and media sectors.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven experience in managing and mentoring junior legal professionals.
Qualifications:
- Professional Qualification: Qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales or other relevant jurisdiction.
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Global Experience:
Experience working with international media companies or handling cross-border transactions in the media and advertising space.
- Emerging Technologies: Familiarity with emerging technologies, programmatic advertising, content creation, and digital media distribution.
