A dynamic organization is looking for a Materials Engineer to join its team in Gloucester. This role is ideal for an engineering professional eager to work across diverse, high-impact industries such as aerospace, defense, and high-performance automotive. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring materials meet demanding specifications while gaining broad exposure to various projects and technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities for the Materials Engineer job:

* Material Mastery: Use technical expertise and engineering judgment to make critical decisions regarding material selection and specifications.

* Root Cause Investigation:





Lead or support technical troubleshooting to identify and resolve material failures, ensuring effective solutions are implemented.

* Support Technical Initiatives: Contribute to key initiatives such as material compliance, dual sourcing, and parts verification to maintain competitive standards.

* Design Integration: Collaborate with R&D; and design teams to seamlessly integrate new products into manufacturing processes.

* Process Optimization: Develop and refine manufacturing processes, including impregnation, pressing, and blown film lines, to enhance quality and efficiency.

* Bid Support: Assist the project team in developing cost-effective manufacturing strategies and completing cost-reduction initiatives.

* Compliance Implementation: Establish and maintain control measures to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.

* Industry Innovation: Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, driving innovation to maintain a competitive edge.







Person Specification for the Materials Engineer job:

* Educational Foundation: Minimum HNC in a relevant science or engineering field.

* Technical Experience: Experience in technical manufacturing engineering roles is advantageous but not essential.

* Proactive Approach: Ability to prioritize and support multiple projects simultaneously in a proactive manner.

* Problem-Solving Prowess: Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of analyzing complex technical issues.

* Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.

* Communication Skills: Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration, with the ability to lead technical projects and write clear, concise documentation.
