Role Overview:
The HSW advisor is responsible for providing the organization with expert knowledge aimed at controlling risks in the workplace and promoting positive health and safety conditions for employees. Work closely with employers, as well as staff representatives and directors, effectively communicating safe systems and procedures. Through continual professional development be responsible in identifying and adhering to safety legislations within the work environment and ensuring the company maintains legal compliance. Manage systems to promote minimal injuries, accidents or other occupational health problems in the workplace and carry out effective investigations when error or violation occurs.
Provide support in ensuring company accreditations are maintained and recommendations from internal/external audits are effectively complete.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain the company’s overall safety, health and wellbeing policies, procedures and training programmes.
* Provide competent safety, health and wellbeing advice to company staffs and managers as required, to enable them to undertake their health and safety and wellbeing responsibilities within the company and on site/s.
* Provide the organisation with expert knowledge aimed at controlling risk in the workplace and promoting positive health and safety conditions for employees. Work closely with employees and subcontractors, as well as staff representatives and directors.
* Attend site and complete inspection/audits of systems of operation and performance of project team. Develop KPI strategy from these inspections/audits to drive and improve overall safety performance.
* Liaise effectively with principal contractors and provide a high level of communication throughout the entirety of any project. Respond to Principal Contractor request and ensure contractual obligations in terms of site visits and safe systems of work are met, via the project teams.
* Effectively monitor company sub-contractors’ performance and ensure contractual obligations are met in terms of safe working practices and adherence to company safety, health and wellbeing policies and procedures.
* Ensure that safety legislation is adhered to and followed within the work environment and continually reviewed, monitored, and revised to reflect current regulations. Ensure that minimal injuries, accidents,
or other occupational health problems that could have been prevented do not occur within the workplace. When situations do arise then ensure these are thoroughly investigated and measures put in place to prevent further occurrence.
* Maintain personal Continual Development (CPD), by attending seminars and briefings so that knowledge of legislation and general expertise is continually developed.
* Understand I.T systems and management of project templates on company server systems and deliver project folders to site teams, as requested.
* Support quality standard operating within company the company and ensure departmental compliance in terms of document control standards.
* Perform any other tasks, duties, and responsibilities appropriate to your position and any other reasonable duties specifically assigned to you.
Requirements:
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety.
* Proven experience in a similar role within the construction sector.
* In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations, risk management, and safety legislation.
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
* Ability to influence and engage staff at all levels on health, safety, and wellbeing practices
