The Opportunity

If you are looking to kick start a career that is rewarding, where you can really make a difference, then come join our Regional External Affairs and Development (READ) Industrial Placement. You will work on one of the most exciting and significant sustainable energy projects that our country has ever seen, being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years.

We’re recruiting for students to join our Regional External Affairs and Development Industrial Placement programme at our Sizewell C Information Office, Leiston (IP16).

There will be the opportunity for some hybrid working in addition to time in the offices in Leiston. Please note there will be a requirement to attend other offices for occasional meetings throughout the programme.

Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.

What we’re looking for

- Disciplines in Stakeholder Management, Project Management, Business Analysis, Environmental Science and Geography.
- A genuine interest in the energy industry and a passion for sustainability and being a part of making a difference.
- We will need you to be open minded, adaptable and have a quick way of thinking to succeed in a progressive fast paced project environment.
- Having a strategic mindset that brings innovative ideas.
- Effective interpersonal skills are key, as well as being able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity, humility, and character.

- Effective communication skills will be required to manage your stakeholders whilst prioritising competing demands.
- A self-starter with the ability to work autonomously on occasions and support the broader needs of the team.

Training, development, and support for you

Over this 12-month programme, you’ll gain an understanding of the operation of a large energy company, the way a business works, the skills required to be successful in a professional career in the energy/nuclear sector and gain a keen insight into a high-profile infrastructure project.

Some of the tasks you will take part in:

- Support the management of key, local sustainability focused projects such as Net Zero Leiston, Transport and Hydrogen focused initiatives.
- Support local engagement on the sustainability projects,

identifying and working with current partners for delivery of objectives.
- Identify and support establishment of key external partnership opportunities to help deliver the objectives of the sustainability projects.
- Research, report on and present updates on the sustainability focused projects to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide analysis on key topics that are of relevance to the wider Sizewell C programme.
- Create presentation and summary material for projects.
- Support the wider READ team with local engagement and stakeholder issues management.
- Support the wider F&ER; team in workstreams relating to Environmental, Social, and Governance topics, the development of the RAB model, liaison with investors and liaison with government,

such as preparing materials on multiple topics that support the case for SZC.

Power in Diversity

Sizewell C is a great place to work. Our ambition is to have a workforce which reflects and benefits the society we are part of and serve. Everyone working at Sizewell C, wherever they are, should help to create and experience the right environment where everyone on the team understands, respects and embraces diversity with a culture where everyone is treated with equal respect and are all given equal access to opportunities. By valuing the different points of view and experiences that having a diverse team brings, and by fostering an inclusive climate, we will create a great place to work. This aligns to our key values:

- Respect : Value the rules and environment in which we operate
- Positivity :

Positively challenge poor quality and performance
- Humility : Be open to other’s points of view and ideas, be willing to debate and to compromise
- Solidarity : One team, working closely together and helping each other
- Clarity : Communicate clearly and consistently

Competitive Salary and Benefits

We’re dedicated to offering adaptable benefits that support our people across all aspects of their lives, and we’re delighted to offer a range of benefits to support our employees’ physical, emotional and financial wellbeing.

In addition to a competitive salary of £23,250, we offer a market-leading company pension scheme, 28 days paid holidays and a range of adaptable benefits, such as: a company incentive bonus plan, health cover, cycle to work scheme, discounts and employee pricing.

Sizewell C Limited (Sizewell C) is nuclear site licensed company whose business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Sizewell C was formerly under the majority ownership of the EDF Group but is currently majority owned by HM Government and operates as an independent company. EDF remains a key shareholder in Sizewell C and the business therefore maintains close links to EDF as a part of its ‘nuclear family’.

As a Sizewell C employee,

you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

Closing Date

We are anticipating significant interest in this role and the advert will be closed once we have received a suitable number of applications so don’t delay, apply today!
