The Opportunity
If you are looking to kick start a career that is rewarding, where you can really make a difference, then come join our Commercial Management Industrial Placement programme. You will work on one of the most exciting and significant sustainable energy projects that our country has ever seen, being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk. When completed,
it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years.
We’re recruiting for students to join our Commercial Management Industrial Placement programme at our Sizewell C Information Office, Leiston (IP16). Please note this is a hybrid position with an expectation to being on site around 3 days per week.
Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.
What we’re looking for
- Discipline in Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying or Procurement.
- A genuine interest in the energy industry and a passion for sustainability and being a part of making a difference.
- We will need you to be open minded, flexible and have an agile way of thinking to succeed in a dynamic fast paced project environment.
- Having a strategic mindset that brings innovative ideas.
- Effective interpersonal skills are key,
as well as being able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity, humility, and character.
- Effective communication skills will be required to manage your stakeholders whilst prioritising competing demands.
Training, development, and support for you
Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You’ll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree.
Previous students on a Commercial Management Industrial Placement have been involved in projects such as:
- Supporting procurement processes from expression of interest to contract award.
- Supporting the contract management of projects in a portfolio of work, undertaking activities such as the assessment of applications for payments and change control.
- Providing commercial support to the project management team in the effective delivery of contracts. Reporting commercial data to senior leaders in the business.

Sizewell C Limited (Sizewell C) is nuclear site licensed company whose business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk.
Sizewell C was formerly under the majority ownership of the EDF Group but is currently majority owned by HM Government and operates as an independent company. EDF remains a key shareholder in Sizewell C and the business therefore maintains close links to EDF as a part of its ‘nuclear family’.
