Join as a Principal Built Heritage consultant our talented Heritage team in our growing Basingstoke, Bristol, Croydon, Newcastle, Nottingham or Leeds offices, as well as taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. This position offers you an opportunities to be involved on a range of projects, particularly in our growing renewables market.
We are specifically looking for an experienced professional who thrives in a collaborative team environment, willing to contribute to and lead on some of the country’s major infrastructure projects from a built heritage perspective – guiding and steering design teams delivering high quality work.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Provide Expertise:
Provide constructive design and mitigation advice on built heritage aspects of major infrastructure schemes. Produce or lead the production of heritage statements, Environmental Impact Assessment chapters, listed building consent applications and other heritage deliverables as required. Have the confidence to present these to statutory consultees. All work will require a knowledge and understanding of national and local historic environment policy and legislation and a proven track record of successful delivery is essential.
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team, liaising effectively with managers, consultants from other disciplines and other stakeholders as required
- Listed Building Consents
- Carry out Setting Assessments
- Produce Heritage Statements, ES Chapters and other application documents
- Design review and advice in masterplanning, development design, and local plan / neighbourhood plan site allocations
- Working independently and taking responsibility for programmes of work, conducted safely, and producing high quality reports
- Project Management: Prepare and manage the production of bids using internal systems and operations, and assess design resources within the discipline
Ensure Quality:
- Delivering desk-based assessments and Environmental Statements.
- Undertaking research and site visits to inform heritage assessments and setting assessments
- Undertaking statutory consultations and liaising with stakeholders via telephone, Microsoft Teams and via on site meetings
- Undertaking on site monitoring visits and building recording
Collaborate:
- Work closely with clients and AECOM counterparts to secure stakeholder buy-in for solutions, while contributing to AECOM's broader technical capabilities and innovative approaches.
- Providing optioneering and design advice to client teams
- Working with the wider EIA team, preparing impact assessments, including Environment Statements
