Controls and Instrumentation Engineer

Full-Time

Bristol/Hybrid (minimum 3 days a week on-site)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Controls and Instrumentation (C&I;) Engineer to join our Test Facilities Design Team, part of Engineering, Technology and Safety (ET&S;) capability in Bristol.

In this role, you will define test facility solutions and specifications in accordance with the applicable standards. You will support a wide range of projects across New Production, Overhaul and Development programmes within the Defence Sector.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

You will contribute to the development of our engine test facilities, work with test related PLC systems and design Extra Low Voltage (ELV) wiring for control and measurement systems. You will also be responsible for:







- Being a point of contact within a given engineering discipline and sharing subject matter knowledge across the function. This may include providing advisory services to designated customers, influencing your peer group, representing senior departmental staff and acting as advisor / coach on matters where you are technically authoritative.
- Looking after defined technical packages / investigations of work to deliver against programme milestones within agreed cost, timescale and quality requirements. Creating and managing project documentation such as statement of works and specifications.
- Problem solving through evaluative judgements. Analysis of factual information from multiple sources, interpreting results and identifying effective solutions by applying your technical knowledge,





expertise and engineering judgement.
- Actively promoting and implementing continuous improvement of tools, processes and methods.

- Professional experience in control and instrumentation engineering. Ideally, you are proficient in designing and implementing control systems and instrumentation for test facilities.
- Degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Good communication,





presentation skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Understanding of applicable compliance and safety requirements to ensure that all the test systems comply with the safety and regulatory standards.
