Job overview
You will be responsible for raising the profile, development, implementation, organisation, and monitoring of apprenticeships in all disciplines and at all levels across the Trust. This will include leading on the management of all aspects of administration, meeting the ESFA needs with regards to levy, and all contractual and legal responsibilities relating to managing a contract with external providers.
Apprenticeships will form a core part of the Trust’s workforce planning and development arrangements moving forward, and the post holder will form part of this activity. This will include responding to the needs of the Trust and developing apprenticeship provision into new vocational areas.
Main duties of the job
You will work at a strategic level offering advice, guidance, and support to senior staff regarding Apprenticeship development as part of the Trust’s workforce transformation and skill mix commitment.
You will also work at an operational level in support of specific activities, for example, liaising with appropriate training providers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring all aspects of legal compliance are both adhered to and maintained.
You will work closely with the Healthcare Careers team and other managers both within Learning, Education and Development and Trust-wide to ensure the Organisation’s learning and development policies and strategies support workforce planning and development.
You will contribute to work within the wider Learning, Education and Development Department as required.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
- Post graduate qualification in a training/management/organisational development related field or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Chartered MCIPD or equivalent membership
Experience
- Extensive knowledge and working experience of apprenticeships and their application in practice including the levy
- Extensive knowledge of the apprenticeship contracting negotiation process with training providers
- Experience and knowledge of introducing a variety of apprenticeship qualifications into a large and complex organisation.
- Proven ability to problem solve, analyse and manage change in a complex organisation
- Previous experience of managing projects / educational services
- Experience of prioritising workload and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
- Experience of managing relationships and working across boundaries with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience and knowledge of recruiting onto apprenticeship programmes including understanding recruitment and selection procedures
- Provide evidence of contributing to policy and strategy
- Experience of supervising / coaching / managing / developing junior staff.
Skills and Knowledge
- Specialist knowledge of all ESFA funding rules and guidance
- Digital/IT competence using a range of programmes e.g., Microsoft Office, MS Teams
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, influence, and motivate effectively
- Excellent time management skills and evidence of the ability to work to deadlines with competing demands
- Awareness of governance / quality assurance frameworks and its impact
- Working knowledge of the national agenda related to Apprenticeships
- Ability and experience of producing reports in a clear and concise manner

- Competent and confident to represent the team and the Department at regional level
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team with appropriate decision-making skills
