About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Oxford Vaccine Group in the Department of Paediatrics as our Senior Programme Manager

The SPM will be based at the Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine and will provide oversight of the management of clinical trials or clinical programs. The post holder will join a team of Programme managers working across OVG responsible for a large portfolio of research projects ranging from preclinical to late phase and post-licensure vaccine trials.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division.





The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology. The Oxford Vaccine Group is part of a UKCRC registered clinical trial unit and is a centre for excellence for clinical trials of vaccines for the adult and paediatric population. Based at the Churchill Hospital we conduct studies aimed at reducing the worldwide toll of deaths and disabilities from major infectious diseases. With an embedded laboratory team and multiple collaborators across the world we are involved in the development and improvement of vaccines from early-stage preclinical work to late-stage post licensure studies.

The post is full-time for 2 years in the first instance. The role does require on site working at least 4 days per week, remote working can be facilitated one day a week.

About you

The successful candidate must be educated to degree level (or have equivalent working experience) in a life science or health-related subject with knowledge of the regulatory environment governing translation research,





in particular as related to clinical development of vaccines. They must have strong organisational skills with the ability to demonstrate leadership of large, fast paced and complex projects at various stages of development, for example, with multiple stakeholders, budgets exceeding £1m, long time-frames, and regulatory complexity. Experience with leading, supporting, motivating and line managing staff is important in this senior position.
