Are you excited by emerging automotive technology?
As an Automotive Testing Engineer (or Future Motor Technology Specialist) you'll help the business understand it better, sharing what it means, and collaborating to shape it for the future of our auto services business.
Reporting to our Motor Technology Specialist, you will be someone with drive and creativity to join the Fit for Future team at the Direct Line Group Technology Centre in Stechford (Birmingham).
You will be at our Birmingham site 2-3 days a week to work with the team, including hands-on projects so you must be based in this region
We are ideally looking for someone with current automotive testing work experience not just theoretical applications as well as relevant qualifications

What you'll do :
- Test and challenge emerging vehicle technologies, supporting DLGs ambition to be an industry leader.
- Engage with a variety of partners using a variety of sources of information to promote learning from outside Auto Services to inform strategic decisions to drive required transformation.
- Work with the Motor Network Technology Specialist and team to build future repair strategies at a people, facility, and industry level.
- Perform hands-on experiments to test new pieces of technology and demonstrate the impacts to team members.
You will work in a team to shape and deliver these.
- Deliver Insight events aimed at furthering understanding of advanced technology within DLG.
- Support the adoption of enabling technology within DLG alongside the Technology Specialist Team including maximising the use of digital solutions (e.g. remote training).
- Directional and practical support for the Technology Centre and activities therein, including contributing latest vehicle technology content to training courses.
- Support implementation of site by site technology investments and people training to safely integrate it within Auto Services
What you'll need :
- Willingness to test and challenge established thinking.
- Background in communicating technical knowledge
- Comfortable at setting your own goals and working to complete them
- Engineering qualification and years industry experience desirable.
- Experience and understanding of automotive / vehicle technologies.
