THEATRES, ANAESTHETICS, CRITICAL CARE, PRE-OP AND PAIN DIRECTORATE
WARD CLERK - CRITICAL CARE
BAND 2 - Part Time 27.5 Hours per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our clerical team on Critical Care. The post holder will be responsible for supporting in the provision of a Monday - Friday clerical service, in line with the needs of the unit.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills and able to provide an efficient reception, telephone and clerical service.
They must have previous clerical experience within the NHS, good organisational skills and be computer literate.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure patient notes are available,
stored securely and filing is carried out in line with Trust guidance.
- Track notes in and out using the Trust electronic system
- Order and maintain stock levels of stationery and administration products.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external services to Critical Care regarding medical notes and other information necessary for the delivery of care.
- Manage Friends and Family feedback from parents and carers.
- Arrange follow up appointments and manage the transfer, admission and discharge using the relevant admissions log and the Trust electronic systems
- Ensure the working environment and clerical areas are kept clean, tidy and clutter free.
- Answering phone calls in a polite and professional manner, assisting within the scope of practice and directing calls to the relevant persons.
- Supporting nursing staff to manage the safe storage and documentation of patient's property.
- Print wrist bands to ensure the accurate identification of patients
- Provide a welcoming and helpful reception service to Critical Care,
deal with enquiries, referring all matters pertaining to the patient’s condition to the nursing staff.
Participation in ensuring security is optimized and ID checks are performed.
To report, record and requisition building and engineering maintenance requests as directed by the Nurse in Charge.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
English Language, GSCSE C or above / equivalent

NVQ Level 3 Business & Administration
