From advanced communication systems to data management and real-time analytics, ICT is the backbone that underpins operational service delivery, ensuring firefighters have the tools they need to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.
We are currently recruiting for a range of roles across the department,
in support of our ambitious transformation programme(s) and operational service delivery.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the London Fire Brigade for an Information Security Manager.
Reporting to the CISO, you will be a subject matter expert in information security and cyber security, playing a key part in improving and maintaining the security and resilience of the Brigade’s ICT services and data.
The following are some of the things you’ll be doing :
- Collaborating with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders on a varied range of security, ICT and business projects.
- Playing a key role in our compliance programmes to improve protection and increase resilience to cyber threats, working to standards such as Cyber Essentials and the Cyber Assessment Framework.
- Getting involved in processes, training and exercising to continually improve the Brigade’s cyber incident response preparedness.
- Assessing security risks to our services and data, and monitoring risk treatment plans.
- Playing a key role in planning for penetration tests and following up issues reported.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of an information security management system, security policies and their implementation.
- Promoting a security aware culture across the Brigade.
- Improving security in supply chains.

1. Extensive experience of managing IT Security in a large multi-site organisation, using the same or similar standards and ICT systems.
Details of the main service areas and relevant current standards :
- Corporate and operationally critical server computers
- Cloud based (Azure)
computing
- MS 365 suite of products
Implementation and support of thin-client desktop services (MS Office / Exchange, Terminal Server, and Citrix)
WAN / LAN / Wireless infrastructure based on CISCO equipment
- SIEM
- Cloud backups
2. Experience of implementing information and cyber security quality and compliance frameworks, including those standards detailed in NCSC’s Ten Steps to Cyber Security and Cyber Essentials standards, ISO / IEC27000 Series and the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
Experience of a Cyber Assessment Framework is preferred but similar experience will be considered.
3.
Experience in ICT security risk management with practical experience of delivering risk and information system control management plus an understanding of IT and information risk and how it relates to a large-scale organisation.
4. A recognised information security management qualification such as CISSP or CISM.
