About the Role:

Birmingham City FC is looking for a dedicated and proactive EDI Specialist to join our People & Culture team. This role is pivotal in driving and implementing the club's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy, ensuring these principles are embedded in all aspects of the club's operations. The EDI Specialist will collaborate with various departments to promote an inclusive culture and continuously improve our approach to EDI.



Key Responsibilities:

Implement and Drive EDI Strategy:

- Project manage the deliverables in the club’s EDI strategy, ensuring that actions and goals are met and reporting progress regularly to the Head of People & Culture.
- Collaborate with the HR team, Internal Communication,





and other relevant teams to embed EDI principles into recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee development.
- Work with the Talent Acquisition Manager to design inclusive attraction and selection processes.

Inclusive Leadership:

- Roll out EDI-related awareness and training programs, such as unconscious bias workshops, inclusive leadership seminars, and mentoring schemes.
- Ensure leaders are equipped with the tools and knowledge to model inclusive behaviours.

Inclusive Employee Lifecycle:

- Ensure equality of opportunity and inclusive working practices across the employee lifecycle.
- Review and update policies to reflect the club’s commitment to EDI and compliance with legislation.
- Promote a culture where all employees feel valued and included.

Community Outreach and Fan Engagement:

- Work with the fan experience team to provide a framework of events, initiatives, and communication to diversify the club’s fan base.






- Enhance fan inclusivity and engagement through targeted outreach and communications.
- Represent the club at community events and EDI-related forums.
- Foster relationships with local communities, schools, and organisations to promote EDI.

Psychological Safety and Storytelling:

- Foster an environment where employees feel safe to be transparent and share their experiences.
- Implement programs like storytelling sessions and inclusion months to raise awareness and build a culture of belonging.

Data Collection and Analysis:

- Establish processes for gathering and analysing diversity data within the organisation.
- Use these insights to inform decision-making and develop evidence-based initiatives.

Monitor and Report:







- Use data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and track the effectiveness of initiatives.

Liaison with External Partners:

- Collaborate with external partners such as the EFL Inclusion team to stay informed of best practices and incorporate relevant case studies into the club’s approach.

General Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with all Policies and Procedures within the Staff Handbook, particularly regarding Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding, and Health & Safety.
- Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by your Line Manager or Head of Department within the scope of the role.



What we're looking for in you:

Essential:

- Proven experience in a similar EDI role.
- Strong understanding of EDI principles, legislation, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.






- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable:

- Experience working within a football club or sporting organisation.
- Familiarity with the football industry and its unique EDI challenges.
- Qualification in EDI, HR, or a related field.

- Flexibility with working hours required to meet demands of the role.
