Job description
Are you an experienced Programme Manager looking to work on an exciting new project to deliver a feasibility study for an iconic cultural building in the heart of Sheffield city centre?
Would you love the opportunity to work as part of a team at Sheffield City Council to lead and deliver this important project; working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders?
Do you have the skills and experience needed to help us develop a strong and ambitious vision for this building, for the Central Library, the City Archives and the Graves Gallery?
Sheffield Central Library and Archives and the Graves Gallery currently share a building in the heart of Sheffield city centre. The Central Library is the flagship of Sheffield City Council’s library service, the City Archives run the Local Studies Library onsite, and the Graves Gallery is run by Sheffield Museums Trust. It is an iconic building located in the Heart of the City and surrounded by other outstanding cultural assets (including the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield Theatres and Winter Gardens) and adjacent to the Town Hall, Peace Gardens and wider city centre spaces.
The opportunities and challenges associated with this shared building have been the subject of several consultancy and strategy reports in recent years. Building on this previous work, an exciting feasibility project is now underway to review the current position and future options for the building; working with external consultancy services to develop a range of options and recommendations to maximise use of this landmark building in Sheffield City Centre and achieve the vision and ambitions of the Central Library, City Archives and the Graves Gallery.
A number of roles are being recruited to deliver this feasibility project at both Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Museums Trust, with this Programme Lead role having overall responsibility for driving and managing the project.
Your role will include:
- Holding overall project management responsibility for this complex project; including creating appropriate processes and structures for governance, risk, finance and reporting
- Developing, producing, distributing, implementing and maintaining high quality project and programme documentation, systems and processes
- Representing the project at Sheffield City Council internally and externally at meetings and events with city leaders, members, partners and stakeholders
- Building strong positive relationships which support collaborative and partnership working, within the Council as well as with other stakeholders and external partners
- Developing and utilising external networks and relationships to seek out best practice and innovation to inform the ambition of this project
If you think you have the necessary skills and experience for this exciting role, we would love to hear from you.
It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
