Job description
Are you a senior Procurement professional looking to make a real impact? If so, why not come and join us as our Head of Procurement for a 12-month maternity cover.
In this role, you’ll lead and shape our procurement activities, covering everything from technology transformation to major property investment programmes.
You will enable the continuous development of Aster Group’s procurement function through the support, influence, and contribution that you are able to bring to the role, keeping a strong grip on value for money, compliance, and continuous improvement.
You’ll be at the forefront, building strong relationships and driving performance with our newly established team.
You will be seen as a subject matter expert for the business and your team will benefit from the experience and knowledge you can share.
Your role with include
- Shaping the operating framework for the Group’s procurement activities
- Leading on strategically important projects for our property investment and customer services teams
- Managing and developing a small procurement team of four colleagues
- Providing specialist support and advice on procurement issues across the business
- Developing, implementing and monitoring procurement policies and procedures, ensuring they comply with relevant legislation and support achieving value for money
- Overseeing procurement systems and technology, ensuring their development, implementation and engagement is robust and fit for purpose
- Embedding an inclusive and progressive approach to value for money, incorporating ESG and social value.
About you
You will be an experienced procurement leader,
understanding how the importance of driving change and improvements within a procurement function enables growth.
You may not have experience in the housing sector, although this would be beneficial. The role will suit someone with a broad background across construction and general indirect categories.
You’ll have a demonstrable track record in acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. You’ll understand market trends, procurement strategy options, best practice tendering, contract award, implement and management.
Communication will be a strength and you’ll provide assurance to senior leaders through best practice.
You’ll be confident with your natural coaching style, and this will enable the development of the team.
You will demonstrate strong leadership skills and will be a strong ambassador for the team with all stakeholders.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification in procurement, such as MCIPS, or a related field.
You can base yourself from home. It is likely that there will be a need to attend face to face meetings on a monthly basis, so being able to travel to our operating region is a must.
Our operating region covers Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, and London, with our main office Hubs in Andover, Devizes, Wells, Weymouth, Wareham and Ferndown.
