A well-respected secondary school in Hounslow seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join its thriving team.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of an engaging and practical DT curriculum.
Key Responsibilities :
- Preparation and Support :
- Prepare teaching resources and materials for DT lessons across all year groups, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum.
- Maintain and calibrate a wide range of DT equipment, including hand and power tools, machinery, and specialist software.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of workshops and DT facilities.
- Assist teachers in setting up practical activities and demonstrations.
- Technical Expertise :
- Provide technical support to teachers in the design and development of DT projects.
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools and equipment, offering guidance to students.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of tools, materials, and consumables, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on DT equipment as needed.
- Health & Safety :
- Implement and maintain high standards of health and safety within the DT workshops, adhering to all regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety briefings for students and staff.
- Ensure the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Organisation and Communication :
- Maintain a well-organised and efficient working environment in the DT workshops.
- Communicate effectively with DT teachers, other staff members, and students.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the DT department as a whole.
The Ideal Candidate :
- Possesses a relevant qualification in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field (desirable).
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment.
- Has experience working with a variety of tools, machinery, and materials used in DT education.
- Exhibits excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Maintains a positive and collaborative working style.
- Holds a steadfast commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.
