University of Leeds
Leeds
Solutions Architect
This role is available to current employees within IT Services at the University of Leeds only
Interviews expected to be held 18 November 2024
This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Are you a highly skilled, delivery focused architect or technical lead with experience of contributing to successful business change programmes? Do you have exceptional business and IT systems skills? Are you interested in supporting the delivery of the university’s digital transformation?
This is a secondment opportunity in the Architecture team until 31 August 2025 for an innovative Solution Architect to develop and implement systems architecture to meet business needs.
Reporting to the Head of Solution Architecture and contributing to the Solution Architecture practice of the University your primary role will be to analyse business and technical requirements and develop solution architectures for project delivery. In addition, you will assist with the development of solution architecture assets and accelerators such as University integration principles and design pattern libraries. Your role is distinguished from the role of a technical architect by a focus on solution architecture elements such as functional software selection, mapping of functional requirements to solution components, application integration and data migration. You will focus less on technical components such as compute and storage platform design but your role will not exclude these entirely.
You will work collaboratively with project managers, business representatives,
end-users and technical teams with IT and the wider university to deliver systems that support effective and efficient business processes and align with university strategy.
You will analyse requirements and functional specifications, assess the current software systems in place in order to develop your proposed solution architectures. Once approved, you will support development teams in the delivery of the architecture. You should also be able to regularly update the university’s IT governance groups on any developments in systems architecture.
