Job overview

To be the Public Health Nursing Childrens Service’s first point of contact for professionals and service users, providing advice, support, appropriate information and signposting.

Contribute to the leadership of the PHNCS Duty Service, an innovative, forward thinking and fast responding service to flexibly meet the needs of our Bradford population.

Manage the PHNCS Duty Service capacity to meet demand, effectively acting as a role model to others within a skill mixed team, offering advice, support and guidance

Provide support advice and guidance to wider members of the PHNCS as the main point of contact for the agile workforce.







To contribute to the development of the Public Health Nursing Childrens Service, which ensures the delivery of effective public healthcare to a culturally diverse population in Bradford and Airedale.

Lead junior colleagues, supporting and challenging practice, nurturing the development of others to ensure that the service delivered is to a safe and high quality.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the Public Health Nursing Children’s Service (PHNCS) Duty Service across the Bradford District.

Respond to all telephone enquiries, SystmOne tasks, service user and professional call backs, emails, Chat Health texts and referrals into the Public Health Nursing Children’s Service Duty Team.

Lead and contribute to the embedding of the integrated duty team model ensuring standardisation of practice and high-quality delivery.

Contribute to the development, monitoring and evaluation process for the PHNCS Duty Service







Support the Service Manager and Team Leaders with further re-design, innovation and development within the PHNCS Duty Service to develop the service offer.

Disseminate information, share and develop good practice within teams.

Contribute to the collection & analysis of data and service user feedback in relation to the service and contribute to regular audits to support quality assurance.

Work always to maintain the safety and wellbeing of infants, children and young people.

Where necessary be confident to make a quality Child Protection referral.

Where necessary be prepared and have confidence to raise a professional challenge to support the safety and wellbeing of children.

Qualification

Essential criteria

- Registered Nurse 1st level. School Nurse / Health Visiting qualification - Certificate / Diploma / Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner (School Nursing / Health Visiting) Degree (or working towards)
- Current NMC Registration







Desirable criteria

- Teaching and assessing in clinical practice qualification
- qualification. Counselling skills qualification. Family planning.
- Child and adolescent mental health qualification
- Registered Nurse (Child Branch) or RSCN

Training

Essential criteria

- Contributing to the training and education of others
- Evidence on ongoing clinical & professional updating relevant to the role of School Nursing or Health Visiting
