Where you fit in

This role reports to the Head of Shell UK Communications. The purpose of the role is to support and grow Shell’s trust in the UK through effective communications, building brand and reputation, and securing Shell's credibility in the energy transition.

The Digital Communications Adviser supports Shell UK’s digital platforms and channels. Together with the wider UK and Group communications teams,





the role is accountable for bold, engaging storytelling campaigns, helping to build and maintain recognition and reputation externally.

What’s the role?

Create engaging digital and social media communications that put humans at the heart of the story, to enable understanding and recognition of Shell’s story, business strategy and advocacy priorities.

This includes shaping content strategy, managing end-to-end content production, execution, and monitoring and measuring activity.

Maintain top-level oversight of social and digital corporate communications, including on shell.co.uk, and marketing communications activity published to the UK.

Ensure activity is in line with UK corporate communications strategy and channel best practices.

Use insights and digital analytics tools to inform strategy and content and embed a robust approach to evaluation with clearly defined measurement frameworks and KPIs.

Curation, creation and editing engaging content, including articles and landing pages,





ensuring consistency in tone of voice, style, and messaging.

Overview of the corporate sections on the website, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to Shell’s editorial and brand guidelines.

Optimise content for SEO, helping to implement the corporate SEO strategy.

Work closely with the corporate digital and social media team, ensuring seamless integration on corporate campaigns.

Support the implementation of powerful campaigns across corporate digital channels, including social media, web, newsletter, podcast.

Collaborate with the Analytics and Insights team to ensure data and insights are used to help create and continuously optimise corporate content on Shell’s digital channels.







Works closely with digital teams in Brand to help build and maintain a digital community of practice .

What we need from you

Significant work experience as a digital editor, content manager, web editor or in communications and media. Strong creative mindset and attention to detail.

Experience in optimising the use of multi-media (image, video, text, graphic and audio).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to write accurately under time pressure. Strong ability to write for a range of digital and social formats, ensuring content adheres to UK communications strategy and social and digital best practices.

An up-to-date understanding of relevant UK issues (politics, news, industry) to provide counsel and advi c e on tactical digital response to complex reputational issues.







Ability to translate complex digital and social analytics and insights for a broad range of audiences.

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, ability to build trust and experience working in challenging external environments and in conflict resolution.

Strong strategy, planning and team management capabilities.

Competency in digital and social media engagement strategies, as well as the ability to work with media relations to resolve corporate challenges.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for engaging with community members, addressing inquiries, and maintaining a consistent brand voice.

Proven ability to use data analysis in strategic, campaign and content decisions for continuous improvement.







Knowledge and experience of content management and listening software such as Sprinklr or Hootsuite, Synthesio or Brandwatch , BrightEdge or Adobe Experience Manager is desirable.
