Main Purpose of the Role :
The Health & Safety Business Partner acts as a subject matter expert to airport line management and key stakeholders on all Occupational Health & Safety matters pertaining to their areas.
The role uses analytics and historical data (internal & external) to develop prevention and upskilling strategies to ensure the continuous safety of all employees, contractors, and stakeholders on LCY property.
You will promote a Safe & Well’ working environment by providing information, training, and guidance. Along with ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, all internal policies, and procedures.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities :
- Subject Matter Expertise :
has high level of knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and working practices.
- Responsible for analysing multiple data inputs and outputs to develop and implement prevention strategies.
- Responsible for developing meaningful working relationships with line management; seen as a trusted and critical partner to the business.
- Responsible for ensuring Airport always works within DfT and HSE regulations; partners with the Compliance team to identify areas of improvement.
- Responsible for ensuring that all relevant Manuals, Procedures, Instructions, and Risk Assessments are relevant and updated when required as they pertain to Health and Safety.
- Investigate injury / ill health to people caused by on-site accidents / incidents. Submit timely and accurate reports. Support LCY departments as required with relevant investigation findings.
- Day-to-day management of all H&S; information required in the Centrik Safety Reporting System.
- Liaison with Back in Action as required for injured colleagues undergoing rehabilitation.
- Provide information as required to the HSE, especially regarding RIDDOR events.
- Promote a proactive Health & Safety Culture and the LCY Just Culture aligned with the overall LCY Safety Culture.
- Provision of Health & Safety support to office / operational areas.
- Support the Head of Safety with the production of Health & Safety reports SMB / HSSE.
- Lead on Health & Safety topics in the Safety Action Group.
- Conduct regular Health & Safety inspections (to include COVID requirements).
- Facilitate Health & Safety surgeries and Safety Champion forums.
- Continued stakeholder engagement including, business, commercial and contractors as well as insurers and regulators. Includes use of the CDM / IEX system and processes.
- Schedule and complete internal audits and Safety Surveys; Prepare audit reports and action findings when required.
- Any other Health & Safety task as directed by Senior Management.
Key Competencies :
- Qualified to a high standard in H&S; subject(s); preferably in the aviation sector.
- Strong analytical and interpretation skillset, with good problem-solving ability.
- Excellent understanding of HSE regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A balanced decision maker with the ability to assess cost verses benefit alongside risk and probability.
- A proactive individual with a can do’ attitude.
Qualifications :
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Required)
- Technical Member of IOSH (TechIOSH) (Required)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Health & Safety Department (Desirable)
- NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) (Desirable)
- Graduate Member of IOSH (or working towards) (GradIOSH) (Desirable)
- Level 4 English speaking (Minimum)
Hours of Work :
Full Time, permanent, 40hrs per week Monday-Friday
